Legs!!

Updated: Jan 15, 2023

I've had many clients express surprise when I include their horse's legs as part of my massage routine. "My previous massage person never did that!' Massaging legs is a key part of the Bancroft School of Massage's protocol, and I was trained in leg massage as part of my certification program. I'm glad they do include this, because in my experience, most horses love to have their legs massaged. This is hardly surprising -- think of the weight those legs are carrying!! I've found that older horses in particular really appreciate a good leg massage. And one area that many horses love having massaged is their coronet band. I must confess, I didn't expect this when I first started on my equine massage journey. But I've seen so many horses respond positively to this over and over again. And it's so gratifying that the relatively simple act of massaging this critical part of their anatomy brings them so much pleasure. If you are interested, I would be happy to show you how to do this yourself, so you can continue to provide your horse with this special treat in between my visits.
